A queer and modern take on Burns Night! An LGBTQ+ get-together to ceilidh dance, play games, hear music and flash your kilts!
More Information (Gaydio is not responsible for external websites)
Each January, Scots across the world join together for a Burns Supper to celebrate the life and work of one of their most famous bards, Robert Burns - Rabbie, if you're nasty.
This year, come along as Scot music maker Venn Smyth and co-host Jamsheed Master for a modern and queer take on the celebration at CAMP in Margate. Bringing a much needed escape to the January blues, bring yer pals for a right knees up and joyful evening! Throw your caution, and yer kilt, to the wind!
You can expect:
Live music
Quiz
Games - such as The Kilted Cat Walk and True Scot Or Not?
And of course - ceilidh dancing! (Don't worry, we'll teach you the moves!)
So gather your team for the friendly competition (a suitably Scottish prize will be up for grabs) and of course put on those dancing shoes! If you have a kilt (or something resembling one!) we warmly welcome you to wear it and it might even help get some points for you team ;)
Audiences at the last Gayly Ceilidh at The Divine in London said:
“So Good!”
“A fab show”
“Was distracted by you all in kilts”
CAMP opens 6pm
Show 7.30-9.30pm
Venn Smyth has been praised as “a superb songwriter” with his music reaching No.1 on the LGBTQ Music Chart. His engaging performances have taken him to the finals of Brighton’s Voice of Broadway and semis of London Pride’s Got Talent and Una Voce per San Marino.
Jamsheed Master arrived on the international scene producing tracks for BAFTA-winning SingStar! and Disney SingIt! videogames. Jam toured Japan as piano-vocalist with The Golden Age of Song, and their own music gets described as a ‘giant bear hug’.
