PART 1 OF 2
Stephanie Hirst is an LGBTQ+ icon and also a broadcasting legend. She has spent her entire adult life hosting radio shows, winning awards for her breakfast shows, hosting segments with Lorraine Kelly on Good Morning Britain and she was the host of the UK national commercial chart show for many years.
In 2014 she dramatically quit her breakfast show, Hirsty's Daily Dose and later appeared on the Steven Nolan programme on BBC Radio 5 Live to go public on her gender transition. Since then she has appeared in The Independent on Sunday's Rainbow list of the 101 most influential LGBTQ+ people in the UK and been given an honorary doctorate by Leeds Beckett University for her LGBT activism.
Here she chats to her former colleague Graeme Smith about her life, her career and her transition for the first time across two episodes. Stephanie Hirst gives one of the most in depth and personal interviews she has ever given.
