Allie X on Anger, Evolution & Radical Self-Love
The Pieces with Bimini
Tuesday, 29 July 2025 - 30 minutes
Having amassed over a quarter of a billion streams globally, Allie X isn't just one of the world's most exciting and forward-thinking artists, she's a creator who has always used her platform for progress.
The Canadian singer, songwriter and visual artist broke through with her Top 40 charting single "Catch" in 2014 and, ever since, has delivered a string of critically acclaimed projects - including 2024's "Girl With No Face". Allie has also written for the likes of BTS, Troye Sivan and Betty Who.
Outside of her art, Allie represents a generation who recognise the importance of continual self-discovery. Even through their name, the 'X' represents an unknown quantity, the idea that you may never solve the equation of who you are in yourself. She has also consistently campaign for women's rights and LGBTQ+ rights in the public sphere.
On this episode of The Pieces, Bimini and Allie discuss artist evolutions, the significance of the 'X' in Allie's name and the role of anger in the creative process.
The conversation also touches on the importance of radical self-love, the challenges of conforming to societal expectations, and the power of embracing one's creativity. Plus, Allie shares advice for aspiring artists and takes part in a quick-fire round.
