Jeremy Corbyn on Campaigning, Peace & Running For Prime Minister

The Pieces with Bimini

Tuesday, 4 February 2025 - 42 minutes

He's the man who was once set to be the Prime Minister of the UK, having gained more popular support in the 2019 General Election than the current Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer received in his Downing Street-winning race. Jeremy Corbyn is one of the most identifiable names in British politics.

Jeremy Corbyn has been a mainstay in British Parliament for over 40 years, having been elected as the MP for Islington North in 1983. But, his journey didn't begin on the backbenches, nor has it ended after his time as Labour Party leader concluded. Corbyn is a lifelong campaigner - having become a trade union representative out of school, he has campaigned for the Anti-Fascist Action, the Anti-Apartheid Movement and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. He has received the Gandhi International Peace Award and Seán MacBride Peace Prize.

In this episode of The Pieces, Bimini and Jeremy talk about the moments that have shaped Jeremy Corbyn into the life-long campaigner he has become. From failing in school to his experiences running for Prime Minister, growing up in a Labour household and whether using the nuclear deterrent is ever the right solution.
